Time for the Cape Town Carnival again

The Cape Town Carnival is set to ignite the Fan Walk, Somerset Road in Green Point this Saturday, 16 March 2013.

More than 2 000 participants will take to the streets under the theme “African Legends”, which organisers say, “celebrates both the country and the city’s rich cultural heritage”. An array of dazzling floats, glittery costumes and stellar entertainment promise to showcase Cape Town’s unique creativity and artistry   and the interactive spectacle aims to unite Capetonians in a celebratory and fun atmosphere.

GoodHope FM will be broadcasting from York road in Green Point from 12:00 to 22:00. Vendors will be trading en route from 15:00 with a free carnival pre-party from 17:00. The carnival parade will take place between 19:00 and 22:00. The night will end with a free after-party at the end zone of the Carnival Parade.

Carnival goers are encouraged to use public transport from the Fan Walk. This will ease the anticipated high traffic flows and normal bus and taxi services will be applicable.
No additional transport services will be arranged by Cape Town Carnival.
The City of Cape Town will implement road closures and transport plans for this event.
