KZN Tourism, Film Authority to showcase at MIP Africa/FAME Week

KZN Tourism and Film Authority announces its participation in MIP Africa/FAME Week 2025, highlighting local film talent and tourism offerings while supporting emerging filmmakers.

1 September 2025 – The KwaZulu-Natal Tourism and Film Authority (KZNTAFA) is proud to announce its participation in MIP Africa/FAME Week 2025, taking place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from 1 to 3 September 2025.

KZNTAFA will showcase the province’s film talent, tourism offerings, and heritage-rich storytelling to global buyers, distributors, and media platforms. MIP Africa offers a rare opportunity to meet, network, and engage with the continent’s leading storytellers and global content buyers.

As part of its commitment to industry growth, KZNTAFA is supporting the participation of three emerging filmmakers.

Filmmakers Spotlight
Lungisani Lucas Gwadiso is the founder of the Harry Gwala International Film Festival, an initiative created to celebrate and develop both local and international film talent. A recipient of international recognition, Gwadiso has produced an award-winning documentary and recently wrote and directed a short film. He sharpened his writing craft through mentorship with renowned script consultant Peter Russell and the KwaZulu-Natal Tourism and Film Authority.

Charlie Samson has built a career defined by resilience and reinvention. His award-winning play The Kaffirs earned the coveted Standard Bank Ovation Award in Grahamstown, setting the stage for his transition into film and television. Today, Samson’s credits include directing Outlaws S2 (Showmax 2026), uChef Nosi, and the popular SABC1 telenovela Amalanga Awafani.

Writer, director, producer, and cultural storyteller Zama kaMafikeni Msibi is an award-winning South African creative with more than 15 years’ experience across theatre, film, and community arts. Their award-winning works include Makati – The Silent Pockets of a Township Boy (2025) and the upcoming documentary The King, the Land and the Chiefs.
