The Radisson Blu Le Vendome Hotel on Sea Point’s Platinum Mile, long a beacon of sophisticated accommodation in Cape Town, has re-opened its doors to the Atlantic Ocean, following a R30 million refurbishment.
Evoking a classic, old-world feel with chic, ultramodern touches, the Radisson Blu Le Vendome is the newest boutique-style gem in Cape Town’s fast-growing hospitality sector, with luxurious upgrades designed to enrich every guest’s experience.
Along with 143 luxury rooms and suites, the hotel presents a stunning pool area, meeting rooms and an exclusive shopping boutique.
Phase two of the ambitious refurbishment will see the addition of a spa and gym to the hotel’s assets, while phase three will revitalize the rooms with inspired, stylish touches.
“It’s a privilege to be handed the reins of such an exciting project. I am honoured to oversee the next phase in the life of this landmark hotel or ‘the Grande Dame’ as I like to call her. Radisson Blu Le Vendome brings classical charm to an innovative, first-class hotel,” says general manager Clinton Thom.
Thom is also the general manager of sister hotel Park Inn by Radisson Cape Town Newlands, which won the international Guardians of Sustainability Award for diversity and inclusion. Following the example set by that project, the Radisson Blu Le Vendome similarly embraces diversity and caring for local communities by employing eight deaf team members, who are involved in all aspects of operating the hotel.
A tradition of fine cuisine has been maintained at the Radisson Blu Le Vendome with La Mer Restaurant and Grill’s menu having been crafted by executive chef Craig Carmichael to deliver authentic South African flavours with international influences.
Cpoint. Bar & Lounge, meanwhile, is the place for connoisseurs to savour fine spirits and cocktails while food and drinks can also be enjoyed at the tranquil, ultramodern #add Restaurant and Pool.
“My goal is to position the La Mer Restaurant and Grill and Cpoint. Bar and Lounge as popular destinations in the community – they’re not just for guests to enjoy. I want to keep the restaurants accessible without compromising on quality,” says Craig Carmichael, who brings over 20 years experience as a chef to the hotel.
The Radisson Blu Le Vendome occupies a prominent place on the cosmopolitan Atlantic Seaboard, with captivating views of the city’s celebrated natural landmarks, such as Table Mountain and Signal Hill. The Sea Point Promenade is but a few steps away, while a world of shopping and entertainment waits in the nearby City Centre and Victoria & Alfred Waterfront.

Along with mountain and sea views, the hotel’s rooms are spacious and comfortable while its 300m2 conference room can accommodate up to 220 people, with the option of partitioning the room into three separate sections.
