THE Radisson Blu have unveiled a decadent menu to cater for lovers on Valentine’s Day.
To celebrate the month of love, the Radisson Blu Le Vendome Hotel in Sea Point has prepared a specially curated Valentine’s Day menu, special, guided wine tours covering all three of the Cape winelands have been devised for wine-lovers through February.
Offering a romantic adventure into gastronomy, Craig Carmichael – executive chef of the hotel’s La Mer Restaurant and Grill – has created a decadent menu tailored to tease the palates of guests and lovers in search of an unforgettable culinary experience.
The Valentine’s Day dinner menu opens with an option of smoked salmon trout or seared carpaccio of ostrich for starters, with grilled beef fillet and hot seared salmon as mains, along with a surprise dessert Cupid would drop his bow for.
“Creating a menu that appeals to both the specific clientele and tenor of this special day presents a unique challenge. It’s all about creating gastronomic mood food!,” says Craig Carmichael.
Beyond whetting the palates of gourmands, the hotel has also created three exclusive wine tours to delight connoisseurs of the vine.
At R4720 per couple, the Stellenbosch wine tour will consist of a game drive; tastings at Villiera, Delaire Graff and Tokara; and a biltong and wine pairing at L’Avenir.
The Franschhoek tour, at R4570 per couple, offers a variety of wine tasting experiences at the following notable estates: La Motte – with access to the Pierneef Gallery, Leopard’s Leap, Rupert & Rothschild, as well as Haute Cabriere.
The third, Constantia tour, meanwhile, traverses Groot Constantia, Buitenverwachting and Steenberg and is available to couples for R4360.
A wine specialist will serve as both the guide and driver on the wine tours, ensuring an informative experience for couples on the special day.
Bookings for the full-day wine tours can be made directly from the hotel and there are discounts for couples either staying at the Radisson Blu or looking to book for more than one pair. Couples interested in the tours need not be guests at the hotel, but do need to contact the hotel to make a booking.
