Col’Cacchio offers Liebenberg’s taste of summer



The 2014 Col’Cacchio pizzeria Celebrity Chef Series has entered its final month. The impressive celebrity chef for November is none other than the widely acclaimed culinary maestro Rudi Liebenberg, the Belmond Mount Nelson executive chef.

Rudi’s Mrs Periwinkle pizza is a celebration of family meals by the coast, salty sea air and the voice of the ocean. He has combined a tomato base with mozzarella and a mix of prawns, calamari and mussels cooked in chili and garlic butter.  The pizza is then drizzled with peri-peri to enhance these seafood flavours.

Rudi’s gourmet creation was inspired by a lasting childhood memory of ‘the best pizza he has ever experienced!’ His mother had always raved about Cape Town’s fresh seafood and returned home from a business trip with a pizza for him to try…it was love at first bite and the Mrs Periwinkle is his #FoodWithaStory interpretation of this unforgettable taste of summer.

R5 from every Mrs Periwinkle pizza sold will be donated to the Children’s Hospital Trust to fund a paediatric rehabilitation programme at St Joseph’s for Chronically Ill Children. Col’Cacchio pizzeria will hand over all money raised from this year’s Celebrity Chef Series at the beginning of December.

Get to your nearest Col’Cacchio pizzeria during November and experience the Mrs Periwinkle taste of summer (R115) – tomato and mozzarella base, chilli and garlic butter prawns, calamari and mussels, drizzled with peri-peri.
