Watch a flotilla of illuminated boats make a dramatic arrival

On Friday, 30 October 2015, the South African Ocean Festival presented by SAMSA and Calulo will launch with a spectacular Lighted Boat Parade at the V&A Waterfront. The Lighted Boat Parade is a symbolic ocean celebration featuring beautifully lit vessels and boats that will parade the harbour. Once the “light carriers” have reached their destination, all the lights within the village will be activated, thus demonstrating the essential role these ships played in lighting the harbour.

Families and friends can gather at different viewing spots along the Waterfront to watch this annual spectacle, and can expect the Sea Princess and boat parade at Jetty 2/Quay 6 to illuminate the harbour.

Following this award winning Beatenberg will kick off festivities with an exciting, live performance.

The Lighted Boat Parade is one of the Festival’s signature events that celebrate the ocean and all that it offers to the country, and we invite you to join us as a spectator cheering on the decorated boats and their crews.

The programme begins from 18:00pm up until 20:30pm.
