Time to steak out at La Mer

If you’re a red meat lover and you’ve never been to the La Mer Restaurant and Grill at the Radisson Blu Le Vendome Hotel in Sea Point, you never know the meaning of melt-in-your-mouth tender.
La Mer’s renowned executive chef Craig Carmichael has over 20 years’ experience under his belt and he’s sourced the Western Cape’s finest available cuts to ensure his meat-centric offerings are second to none.
He’s mastered the art of capturing the perfect balance of each ingredient presented on the plate in a sophisticated and dynamic manner.
If it is lamb that you’re after, the Loin of Karoo Lamb, served with tarragon couscous, sweet potato fondant and red wine jus will be a winner. The red wine jus is served in a novel way as it arrives with plumes of smoke rising up from its container.
For lovers of beef, there’s the Grilled Beef Fillet, served with fondant potato, butternut squash, oxtail ravioli and wild mushrooms.
Of course, there’s a variety of other offerings on the menu, but the Hot Seared Salmon, with wasabi mash, fine beans, and a salad of plum tomato and baby spinach, is a great favourite with the ‘Gourmet Society’.
All in all, Le Mer offers a sublime dining experience and the waiters are uniquely well-equipped to advise diners what wines pair best as you work your way through the courses.
