The Strolla Restaurant & Bar in Sea Point is the chic new eatery at the Peninsula All-Suite Hotel on Beach Road, adjacent to the Sea Point Promenade.
Cape Dreams guests Jane and Herman were welcomed on arrival by two friendly staff members who showed us the seating options in the beautiful settings.
Wednesday evening was rather chilly so the primary outdoor setting with its sundeck which offers splendid views of the Atlantic Ocean was naturally off-limits.
Lower down there is another outdoor setting, suitably decorated with a bar area surrounded by overhead heaters, which helped to offset the evening chill.
But we opted for the comfort inside where our candlelit dinner got under way with an offering of cocktails although we were swayed by a Spier Signature Cabernet Sauvignon 2014, ahead of the starter.
Since its opening in January 2016, Strolla has enjoyed rave reviews after the eatery made good on their promise to use only the best and freshest ingredients to ensure enjoyable simple, sophisticated cuisine in casual surroundings.
Our choice of shared starter was Lamb Croquettes with caramelised onions and Enoki mushrooms.
For the main course, Jane chose Rotisserie Chicken with Peri-Peri, Garlic and rosemary infused ½ baby chicken with fries and a lemon-herb crème.
Mine was the Portuguese Steak Chargrilled rump with deep-fried poached egg, sautéed chorizo and mushroom sauce. It is a tasty delight that will go down well with Capetonians.
Of course, in sunny weather the facility will turn into an idyllic seaside eatery, and if you need to cool down, there is a sparkling pool adjacent to eating area, all with loads invigorating sea air spilling over from the Atlantic.
Just one end of the inside dining area there is a dedicated kiddies room which a host of toys and machines to ensure that you get through your meals once the children have had their meals. And for good measure, kids can also make their own pizzas under supervision in this facility.
The menu offers a wide variety popular items pizza, burgers, soups, ribs and salads.
Outside there a Bootlegger station which operates throughout the day to ensure you can enjoy a good cup of coffee or any other of its other perfectly brewed caffeine variations.
And finally, there is free wi-fi so there’s no excuse not to tell the rest of Cape Town what a great all-day eatery option Strolla is!
