A NEW BEACHSIDE restaurant has arrived on the Sea Point promenade with the launch of Strolla, located at the Peninsula All-Suite Hotel. Including a coffee shop, restaurant and bar, Strolla brings a fresh new indoor-outdoor, all day dining and meet-up energy to the landmark destination on Beach Road.
“Few places welcome the diversity of visitors to the promenade, and Strolla fills that gap. Our indoor and outdoor areas and all-day menu caters to runners, cyclists, moms with prams, business meetings and sundowners on the deck,” says Strolla owner and restauranteur Brendon Crew.
Stroll in from the beach or promenade to the sun-filled and stylishly decorated restaurant which fuses beachside eclecticism with informal elegance.
The simple yet sophisticated menu features seasonal dishes with a focus on fresh, quality dining. The early crowd can tuck into a café menu of croissants, muffins and breakfast plates paired with a cup of Bootlegger Coffee Company’s craft roast.
Open ale pulled pork sandwiches, cheese burgers, beer battered fish and chips and Mediterranean style pizzas temp the hungrier crowds, along with smaller plates like sausage and chimichurri, chilli poppers and nachos.
A glimpse in the impressive wine cellar finds a well-priced and carefully curated selection, which includes the Protea Wine range from Anthonij Rupert Wines. Craft beer lovers will head straight to the bar for a pint of Devils Peak Brewing Company served on tap.
A family friendly venue, Strolla welcomes the little ones with a fully kitted out kid’s area of beanbags, toys and video games. Built just off the side of the main dining area, its ideal for keeping a watchful eye while enjoying the afternoon sun.
Free WiFi is a huge draw for on-the-go professionals and the lunchtime business meeting crowds. There’s also bike parking for cyclists, a MyCiti Bus stop outside and a take-away coffee and food menu.
But the real highlight is Strolla’s sheltered outdoor deck. Adorned with free-standing umbrellas and stunning ocean views, it’s a sun-drenched spot for dining or relaxing and the place to be at sunset.
