There is a new star attraction on Signal Hill, Cape Town’s favourite sundowner spot.
It is the 24-metre high sun-shaped sculpture, named the SunStar, Beacon of Hope.
Since it was unveiled in late November it was clearly visible at night on Signall Hill.
The information board just across from the SunStar informs that the materials used were from the discarded Robben Island fence that surrounded the prison.
The power for the lighting is supplied from solar panels on a nearby building that looks like a container.
