Noddy’s ‘parp-parp’ car on auction

The original Noddy Car once owned by Enid Blyton’s company – complete with its unmistakable red and yellow paintwork – could be yours to drive in Toytown!
Auction sale price estimates vary from the equivalent of R300 000 – R350 000 for the car that is almost exactly the same as the iconic little convertible made world famous in Blyton’s timeless classic of Noddy and his ‘Adventures in Toytown’ and will be auctioned at Silverstone in England on July 27 2013.
Silverstone Auctions’ Will Smith said: “This amazing Noddy Car has to be one of the most easily recognisable cars on the planet and it doesn’t get any closer to the one that Noddy actually drives with his friends in their adventures in Toytown.”
The actual car is a 1969 Fiat Gamine Vignale, a small two-seat roadster produced by Carozzeria Vignale from 1967-71 and based on a Fiat 500 platform. The car is fitted with a 594cc engine and synchro gearbox. It has had four owners but only covered about 7000km from new.
“We expect a huge amount of interest from Enid Blyton fans and Fiat collectors – who can blame them for wanting to get their hands on a car that takes them back to their childhood?” Smith asked. “The number plate – NOD 513 – is the finishing touch which makes this unique car extra special.”
